Some highlights from the meeting included:
Heart of the City’s President, the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Alderman Fiona Woolf, spoke passionately about her support for Heart of the City’s work, about Corporate Social Responsibility and about her aims for next year. She shared her 686 Plan which sets out her theme “The Energy to Transform Lives”. She also spoke about her Tomorrow’s City programme – developed around the broad themes of infrastructure, sustainability and diversity – and the Charity Leadership Programme which is designed to engage senior City players and businesses to deploy their skills in support of charities and the not-for-profit sector.
Also highlighted was City Action “Joining Forces” toolkit which provides practical advice on how to better mobilise the City’s resources to work collaboratively with its local communities.
Heart of the City’s new Trustee, Charlotte Cowley, Marketing Director at Columns Creative Agency, reviewed the successful partnership between Heart of the City and Columns. Her speech, which highlights the impact that a business can have through a Charity of the Year partnership, can be found here.
Heart of the City’s CEO, Carolyn Housman, ended the AGM with a reminder of the impact that Heart of the City has through its Newcomers programme. Click here to view our 2013 impact report. Another Council-led impact area is the SchoolstoBusiness pilot, which has been tremendously successful.
