Heart of the City Carbon Calculator

Module three

Use Heart of the City's carbon calculator to measure your water, employees working from home and purchased goods and services emissions.

This carbon calculator starts from 2018. If you’re measuring a baseline pre-2018 you need to use the UK government’s emissions factors for the correct year.

We’ll update this carbon calculator every year, so make sure to come and download the most up to date version whenever you’re using it.

For information

We constructed the employees working from home information using EcoAct’s whitepaper.

Our purchased goods and services emissions factors have been created by using an average of the below items’ emissions factors. For 2023 onwards, we’ve updated the calculator so you can measure purchased goods separately to purchased services to give you a more accurate measurement.

  • Administrative and support services
  • Arts, entertainment, and recreation
  • Chemicals and pharmaceuticals
  • Construction
  • Education
  • Equipment
  • Financial and insurance activities
  • Food and beverage
  • Human health and social work activities
  • Information and communication
  • Materials
  • Other service activities
  • Professional, scientific, and technical activities
  • Public administration
  • Real estate activities
  • Textiles and paper
  • Transport and storage
