Welcome to our new trustee, Fiona Clark

We’re pleased to welcome Fiona Clark to our board of trustees!

Fiona is Practice Director at David Miller Architects (DMA). Prior to joining DMA in 2006, Fiona spent 20 years in the fashion industry as a buyer for international retailers and as a director in the clothing manufacturing sector. She now applies her business skills to developing the practice with a focus on responsible business growth. She’s prioritised a range of initiatives around investment in the team and infrastructure and a partnership approach with their clients, and thorough this DMA has established a sustainable business model that delivers consistent profitable growth.

Initiatives include the introduction of apprenticeships, the development of pro bono community based projects and promoting the exciting opportunities in the architecture and the construction industry to encourage young people to join the sector. Fiona works together with a number of organisations to deliver programmes that aim to create a level playing field and equality of opportunity regardless of background. Partners include Class of Your Own, the RIBA, the Social Mobility Foundation and Placed in Liverpool. She has also championed DMA’s work placement scheme and this has contributed to the practice being recognised for its social value with the CECA Inspiring Change SME Award, the Constructing Excellence SME of the Year, a Westminster Lion Award and a Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award.

As a graduate of Heart of the City’s foundation programme, and now as an associate member, Fiona brings her personal experience and perspective as an SME to the board of trustees. Additionally, she sits on the board of Westminster Business Council and is part of The Fitzrovia Partnership and the Employers Alliance at the Sir Simon Milton Westminster University Technical College. She’s also a founder member of MIPIM Ladies, a network of women in property and construction that comes together to meet and share ideas, promoting a supportive and inclusive approach.
