This week was our final survive and thrive session in the series and focussed on developing a growth mindset. We were joined by Nick Hawley, Managing Director of HR Consultancy Heads Up HR.
Nick introduced the concept of leading with paradoxes and looked at how to break out of your current mindset by changing your thinking. Developing a growth mindset by shifting our thinking focus can help find ways of unblocking our current situation and create possibilities and opportunities we might not have considered. Nick explored the theory of growth mindset vs fixed mindset and the four leadership paradoxes that support the development of a growth mindset: opinions, innovation, motivation, and self.
Nick recommended the below resources for further reading on the topic:
- Mindset – changing the way you to think to fulfil your potential – Dr. Carol S. Dweck
- Re-wire your Mindset – Brian Keane
