“My top recommendation for Heart of the City members is the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS) webinars.
I’ve been a member of the ICRS since 2016 and their webinars have proved to be extremely useful when I was considering a career in responsible business, engaging with businesses from a charity perspective and in my CR role today. The following two sessions spring to mind – one from two years ago and one from earlier this year. The great thing is you can access all previous webinars in the archive if you’re a member of ICRS.
I watched the ‘engaging with business leaders‘ webinar when I was Partnerships Manager at Academy Ambassadors. My role was to encourage senior business leaders to volunteer as non-executive directors on multi academy trust boards. Listening to this webinar as CR Executive at CMS, I’ve taken note of a number of ideas which weren’t necessarily relevant on my first listen but are now I’m working for a much larger organisation. This webinar sets out some challenges faced by responsible business professionals followed by practical advice on how to engage boards and business leaders under the titles ‘the big sell’, ‘the daily grind’ and ‘playing the long game’.
‘From cynics to storytellers: turning your social change ambition into reality‘. We’re fortunate that the majority of CMS are storytellers but every organisation has a cynic or two! This webinar went through a simple five step process to encourage those naysayers to become some of your best responsible business champions!”
