Every month we like to share a recommendation from one of our ambassadors: something that inspires them in their responsible business work. This month we spoke to Emma Hibbett, Sustainability Reporting Lead at Nando’s UK and Ireland. A sustainable future is rooted in equality and justice is the inspiration behind Emma’s recommendation, as well as something that you can plug in and play whilst on your commute.
“My recommendation would be my favourite podcast: Intersectionality Matters.
Inequality and climate change are deeply interconnected crises. Solving these issues should not – and cannot – be done in isolation: racial equality must be at the very heart of our climate movements.
The Intersectionality Matters podcasts highlights the interactions between these crises and can help us on our journey towards becoming more purposeful businesses, by reminding us that our interventions to create a more sustainable future must be rooted in justice and equality.”
Emma Hibbett is Nando’s UK and Ireland Carbon and Sustainability Reporting Lead at Nando’s, having previously completed a PhD at Imperial College London. In my role at Nando’s, Emma looks after the carbon and reporting projects to help Nando’s reach their 2030 Net Zero target. Whilst studying for her PhD, Emma focused on public participation in local policy making during disasters; in particular, how people can develop more resilient participatory practices to ensure that community voices are heard in disaster decision making. Prior to starting at Nandos, Emma set up Just&Green, a sustainability consulting company focusing on small businesses in the sporting industry.
