Earlier this week, we attended the City Giving Day Countdown Breakfast at Mansion House to gain insight into the day and provide some inspiring ideas to pass on to our member companies that might be thinking of getting involved for the first time!
So what’s it all about?
City Giving Day is an annual event giving companies across the City the opportunity to showcase their charitable and community work. This year, City Giving Day will take place on Tuesday 25th September and it is a very worthwhile event for you to get involved with.
Our top three tips for taking part in City Giving Day this year are
The Go Red campaign is now a signature of City Giving Day and provides visibility to the cause. More than half the businesses that took part in 2017 encouraged staff to wear something red or had a red-themed activity. So why not dig out your best red dress, tie, a pair of socks? You could even go red from head to toe to show your support!
Join in the conversation on social media showcasing your work with charity partners or employee volunteering efforts using @LMAppeal and hashtags #CGD #GoRed. You might also want to host a celebration event to highlight the impact your employees have had over the past year.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal hosts numerous official events and activities that you can get involved with, either as a group or an individual, including the Treasure Hunt and Tour de City. If none of these take your fancy, why not arrange your own event and get together with colleagues to fundraise for your chosen cause?
City Giving Day is your chance to celebrate your charity and community work, raise some funds and have fun at the same time! We’d love to hear if you have any plans or activities scheduled so please let us know if you do. If you haven’t registered your company yet, don’t worry – there is still time!
