HotC’s Top 5 Social Enterprises: Old Spike Roastery

Meet Old Spike, a social enterprise coffee roastery. They were set up in 2015 with a sole mission to end homelessness in the UK, sourcing speciality beans from all over the world and roasting them locally at their site in Peckham.

They supply all manner of coffee paraphernalia, from coffee beans to electric coffee makers, to offices and corporates, coffee shops, restaurants, other social enterprises and charities. Old Spike Roastery have recently opened coffee carts around London to improve their social impact.

Old Spike Roastery believes in people over profit and do everything with social good in mind. By providing training, jobs and support with housing they wanted to create a speciality coffee brand.

They seek to lift people out of homeless. They provide jobs and housing for homeless people – providing a bank account, career guidance and occupational therapy to help rehabilitate back into work. All this from buying a coffee: it’s incredible how much power everyday purchases can have went made through a social enterprise.

Remember to buy social and source sustainably!
