Today our spotlight picks up Harry Specters, a family owned social enterprise – dedicated to crafting delicious handmade chocolates that provide employment opportunities for young people with autism. Set up by Mona, Shaz and their son Ash who has autism, this social enterprise combines Mona’s passion for creating positive change for people with autism, with her love for chocolate.
They believe in providing employment and training for people with autism. They are involved in every aspect of the business – from making and packaging the products, through to design and photography and back office work. They also work closely with special needs schools and offer work experience placements for their students.
Harry Specters has a social purpose that is clear: to offer confidence and hope to young people with autism by providing employment and free training, enabling them to produce great products. They have created an autism friendly workplace where people with autism can contribute to various tasks.
The company believes in “Great Product – Great Cause” – if the product or service is not great, there is no cause. This is the reason why the company makes sure that their products compete with the best chocolate brands of the UK.
Remember to buy social and source sustainably!
